County & municipal elections and the library

Many Vaara libraries serve as polling stations in the county and municipal elections during the advance voting period (April 2 to April 8, 2025) and on the election day (April 13, 2025).

The exceptions in library services during the voting period are listed below. If your library is not on the list, the elections do not affect the library services.

Heinävesi library
Exceptions in opening times: the library is open during the advanced voting period Wed-Fri (April 2-4) 10–18, Sat & Sun (April 5 & 6) 10–14, Mon & Tue (April 7 & 8) 10–18. Normal access to the self-service library everyday 7–21.

Lehmo library
Advance voting in the reading room April 2–8. During the voting period newspapers and magazines are available in other parts of the library. Normal opening times apply (Mon-Thu 13–19, Fri 10–15).

Lieksa library
No access to the self-service library in the evening Wed-Fri (April 2–4), normal self-service access in the mornings 7–10. No exceptions to self-service times after Friday, April 4. Normal service hours apply.

Liperi library
No self-service access during advnaced voting perion April 2–8 or on the election day, April 13. Normal service hours apply.

Nurmes mobile library (Ilona)
The library bus Ilona serves as a mobile polling station on April 2–7.

Pyhäselkä library (Hammaslahti)
No access to the common room during the elections.
