European Elections and the library

Many Vaara libraries serve as polling stations in the European Elections (Elections to the European Parliament 2024) during the advance voting period (29 May to 4 June, 2024) and on the election day (June 9).

The exceptions in library services during the voting period are listed below. If your library is not on the list, the elections do not affect the library services.

Heinävesi library
The library is open during the advance voting period (May 29–June 4) as follows:
Wed-Fri 10–18, Sat-Sun 10–14, Mon-Tue 10–18.
Normal access to the self-service library (with separate contract only) every day 7–21.

Joensuu Main Library
Advance voting in part of reading room Vipunen (ground floor) May 29–June 4 as follows:
Wed-Fri 9–18, Sat 10–15, Sun 12–16, Mon-Tue 11–20
On election day (June 9) 9–20
The voting area is restricted. There is no library service outside regular opening hours (Mon-Fri 9–19, Sat 10–16.

Joensuu Mobile Library Mysteeri
Library bus Mysteeri serves as a mobile polling station during the advance voting period as follows:
June 1, 10–14: Koverontie 7
June 2, 10–14: Rukavedentie 7
There is no library service available in Mysteeri during voting.

Kesälahti library
No access to the self-service library on Sunday, June 9.

Liperi library
No access to the self-service library between May 28 and June 4, and on June 9.

Pyhäselkä library (Hammaslahti)
No access to the common room between May 27 and June 10.
